Michael Goldman joins Telemundo Arizona as National Sales Manager. 

MGoldman TelemundoMichael brings a wealth of experience as a successful sales executive with a deep knowledge of the Hispanic advertising market. In this role, he will provide exposure for KTAZ-TV and KHRR-TV; present national sales packages to increase sales revenues and ensure both stations over achieve revenue goals. Michael has over 34 years of radio & television experience in the Boston, San Francisco-San Jose, Phoenix and Tucson markets.

Denise McManus joins Telemundo Arizona as Vice President of Sales. In this DMcmanus Telemundorole, she will provide leadership, guidance and support to the Phoenix & Tucson sales teams. Denise will lead and design strategies for growth in the marketplace leveraging and optimizing opportunities across all media platforms. Denise has worked in the Chicago, Detroit, New York and Philadelphia markets. She has over 15 years of radio, television and cable sales leadership experience.

Kent Johnson, formerly of the Orange County Register and Arizona Republic, has joined the East Valley Tribune as ad director. Tribune Publisher Terry Horne said Johnson "has deep and wide print and digital sales experience." Full story here.

Web Site Redesign Partnership

AAF Metro-Phoenix (AAFMP) is looking for a pro bono web site design partner to help create the new Ad Club web site. We are seeking a company/designer that can capture the diversity of the Phoenix advertising community as well as the uniqueness of Arizona. 

Here is your chance to showcase your web design capabilities in front of the Phoenix advertising community, which includes agencies, media companies, and individuals/professionals. Programming will not be involved.

The selected company/designer will receive the following sponsorship benefits: Preeminent placement and credits on the new Ad Club web site, sponsor recognition on the web site, in e-communications and at functions and events throughout the year.

Following their successful showing at the District 12 AAF Metro Phoenix ADDY®  competition, two Phoenix agencies and one student have won a National ADDY Award.

Congratulations to HAPI (Rose & Crown - World Cup Beer/Rose & Crown British Pub); Riester (When I Grow Up Riester /Arizona Milk Producers); and Kyle Wheelock, a student at The Art Institute of Phoenix for his Dive Publication Editorial Spreads.

The winners will receive their trophies at the National ADDY Gala at Admerica! 2011 in San Diego June 4th.

The annual American Advertising Federation (AAF) kicked off 2011 with its 26th annual ADDY® Awards competition to recognize exceptional advertising created here in the Valley. On Saturday, March 5, AAF Metro Phoenix hosted 250+ attendees for the 26th Annual ADDY® Gala at the Valley Ho, Old Town Scottsdale, where agencies from around the Valley found out who dominated last season and who got benched.

Over 150 people attended the Advertising Agency Summit Professional development lunch on Thursday, October 7. 

Nancy Stephens, Associate Professor of Marketing and Faculty Director of the Services Leadership Institute at the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University led the agency leaders in a lively discussion. Agency principals on the panel included: Jos Anshell of Moses Anshell; Park Howell of Park&Co; Bill Lavidge of The Lavidge Company; Carrie Martz of The Martz Agency; Tim Riester of Riester and Dan Santy of AIR Marketing.

Topics of discussion included: how can Phoenix agencies increase national recognition as an advertising hub; the biggest challenges facing agencies in today's market; what distinguishes those who get the account; advice to new agencies and what are the principles your agency represents.
