It all begain with three advertising visionaries – Jerry Arnold, Tasso Coe and Ivan Shun
These advertising giants were the moving spirits behind the inception of this organization back in 1937. The Hotel Westward Ho was the tallest building in Arizona and our very own 'Ad Pack' began to hold weekly meetings, with members. They met fifty-two times a year to hear speakers such as Barry Goldwater and Frank Lloyd Wright exchange ideas and enjoy the company of their peers during the course of a lunch or dinner at the Hotel Westward Ho.
Beginning in 1974, the Phoenix Advertising Club held meetings twice monthly, September through June, at the BeefEaters Restaurant, the Hyatt Regency Hotel, the Phoenix Country Club, the Sterling Suites Hotel and the Camelback Inn. Bowing to members’ busy schedules, the meetings are now held once per month year around.
In 2007, the Phoenix Ad Club changed its name to AAF METRO PHOENIX to better identify with the adfed's affliation with the national AAF chapter.
AAF Metro Phoenix now meets on the first Thursday of each month for a monthly luncheon meeting featuring speakers from all over the United States to provide members with insight into the advertising community.
AAFMP members are deeply involved in advertising standards programs, advertising education, government relations, college educational programs and awards, and many other activities geared toward the enhancement of the metropolitan area of Phoenix.
Affiliated with the national AMERICAN ADVERTISING FEDERATION, AAFMP members join with other advertising clubs across the nation to ensure high ethical standards are maintained in the advertising profession.
AAF Metro Phoenix will continue, through an ever-increasing membership base, to uphold the hightest standards in advertising and join with other local organizations to provide education and continued qualitative growth for our profession in the Phoenix community.
